Bill Dobbie

Bill Dobbie — Non-exec Chairman

Bill is an experienced entrepreneur and director specialising in internet, telecoms and technology businesses. He has led a number of successful private equity funded businesses and recently retired from a 7-year spell at Iomart PLC (IOM) spanning founder to non-exec positions. Bill has been a Director of Demon Internet, Prestel, Teledata, Scottish Telecom (Thus) and several other companies. His early career was with Unisys in the UK and Australia.

Bill has an Honours degree in Pure Mathematics from the University of St. Andrews, and an MBA from the University of Glasgow.


Tim Brown

Tim Brown — Chief Executive Officer

Tim was appointed CEO of Maxymiser in May 2009 after serving as a non executive director since 2007. His last role in the online software industry was as CEO of behavioural targeting pioneer Touch Clarity cumulating in its $60m acquisition by Omniture in 2007. Prior roles include technical design, sales and project management at INMOS Ltd, Surface Technology Systems plc, Leybold AG and the JET European Nuclear Fusion Program. He has also served ten years as a General Partner at the early-stage technology venture capital firm Alta Berkeley where his investments have included STNC (Microsoft Inc), Cambridge Positioning Systems (CRS plc), Genera Technologies (Idexx Inc), Improveline (Homeserve plc). Tim has a First Class degree in Physics, Manchester University and MBA, Cranfield School of Management.


Mark Simpson

Mark Simpson — Managing Director

Mark has extensive knowledge of the online market having worked in the industry for 9 years in sales, marketing and commercial roles.

Prior to joining Maxymiser Mark was the second person in Travelport’s European B2C arm helping to build market presence through buying 4 large European travel players and developing the company into one of the leading international online travel companies. Latterly Mark headed up the Business Development, Search and PPC teams for Travelport. Prior to Travelport, Mark was employed as Senior Business Development Manager at Hitwise and joined just as the company launched in the UK where Mark was a key figure in building the client base, developing the product and introducing it to the market.

Mark graduated with a BCom Honours degree in Commerce from The University of Birmingham.


Peter Ellen

Peter Ellen — Chief Operating Officer

Peter Ellen started working in the music industry at the age of 17 as a recording artist and went on to be a producer, club runner, radio presenter, label owner and retailer. Peter has a Post Graduate Degree in Marketing from Napier University which he gained whilst working as a manager in the retail chain Fopp. At Fopp Peter rose from the shop floor to become MD in 1999. By 2005 Peter had led the chain from sales of £4m to £35m when he left the business. He then worked as a consultant and journalist before joining IDE Group in early 2006. Peter is a Fellow of the RSA and holds non-executive positions with Burt Greener Communications and Something Else (the largest independent radio producer in the UK and a top ten producer of TV entertainment).


Derek Gray

Derek Gray, Non-exec Director

Derek Gray is an active supporter and investor in early stage technology companies. Derek was formerly a Senior VP with Adobe Systems Inc, a NASDAQ company with sales in excess of $1bn, and was responsible for worldwide sales and marketing. He also played an integral part in overall business development, strategy, and mergers and acquisitions activity. Derek serves on the board of Enigmatec, where he has been actively involved in building the company’s overall commercial delivery capability.


Marc Moens

Marc Moens, Non-exec Director

After obtaining a PhD in Cognitive Science and Linguistics, Marc worked as a research fellow at the University of Edinburgh. His R&D interests were concerned with most areas of document management, including annotation standards like XML, text classification, information extraction, and text summarization. He left the University to co-found Rhetorical Systems, a text-to-speech company, and became its CEO. In December 2004 Rhetorical was sold to a US-based speech company. In 2008, Marc joined Pentech Ventures. Marc is also on the board of Hubdub ltd.


Max Polyakov

Max Polyakov — Non-exec Director

Max Polyakov is a rising star of the international internet software and business scene. Max founded Maxymiser, having previously built and sold the web analytics software company Hit Dynamics. This was acquired by Hitwise, which in turn became part of Experian. Max is a director of the IDE Group and is actively involved in number of the group’s subsidiary companies. He is also on the advisory board of Seedcamp. Max is a graduate in Medicine and studied at Business School in Ukraine before founding his first enterprises.
