Location: DusseldorfAs Technical Consultant you will ensure our new customers are successfully onboarded from a technical perspective and provide second line pre and post-production technical support. - Producing detailed and high quality documentation.

Position title: DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR / DEVELOPER

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Database Administrator / Developer will provide and manage the database environment and related software tools, which support Maxymiser MVT and personalisation products. Duties will include:
- Supporting development, testing and production database environments.
- Monitoring and supporting the environments including SQL implementation and management standards.
- Conduct capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning.
- Participate in the development and testing of HA/DR.
- Participate in the design/testing/implementation of new environments from hardware through to database design.
- Assisting in the development and testing of projects and releases.
- Help to provide 24/7 support for critical situations.
Supporting the internal business
- Using MDX and T-SQL to create ad hoc reports when necessary.
- Create scripts and SSIS packages to assist the business in tasks that need DBA assistance.
- Create scripts/databases/reports to assist management to report on business KPIs/SLAs.
- Analysis and follow through of client’s requests for data not currently available to them through the reporting user interface.
- Assist with researching potential solutions to meet business requirements.
Developing a robust ETL process
- Assist the existing DBA developer in creating an optimal ETL process.
- Participate in developing our current ETL process to remove errors and provide a reliable and consistent import system for our clients.
Research and Development
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies.
- Perform database audits and documentation for all aspects of the database environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of managing multiple MS SQL 2005/2008 RDBMS on large systems.
- Experience of working within Windows and Linux.
- Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on database projects.
- Practical experience in monitoring and tuning databases to provide a highly available service.
- Optimizing SSAS and ETL processes.
- SQL 2005 to 2008 migrations.
- Experience in providing and supporting OLAP and data warehousing solutions.
- Managed and deployed SQL Server in a virtual environment.
- Experience of T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and MDX.
- Microsoft certification would be an advantage but not essential.
- Good understanding of the BI needs of an organization, and how to obtain and communicate this information.
- General all round knowledge of computer hardware, networking and communications.
- In depth SQL server database administration and some exposure to Vertica or other column based database technology.
